I thought I would share with you a little bit of sparkle today. This new year, the start of 2025 has me feeling creatively inspired. In preparation for the opening of the museum I am creating costumes, obsessing over color, fine-tuning the machine. I have some incredible booties from Fredericks of Hollywood, but I have pulled out of my Vintage closet to work on. This is the one I am currently obsessing over. Ever since I came back to the Quad cities from Puerto Rico in April or June, I’ve been obsessing over the lavender color that pops out during the spring time. The Midwest is so full of this color you can see it in the sky and the plants, even in the black is birds, there’s a gorgeous lavender sheen over top of their feathers. It’s been a very harsh year and I feel that the softness of this shade of purple sets my soul at ease and makes me feel romantic and dreamy. When I have finished this course it, I’m hoping to be able to wear it with my lavender ostrich feather dressing gown. I only have about six hours into this corset so far. I definitely see at least another six hours left if not more. Part of the process when you crystal a costume is sitting near an open window to avoid the toxic fumes from the glue. So I have been sitting next to the open window with the fireplace on in the dead of winter and it’s actually really cozy. I’m really enjoying the process of this creation. I found myself at a stopping point right now because I have run out of glue, but I’m gonna head to the store right now and pick some up and come back and put in another six hours.
