2022-02-12 22:53:36 +0000 UTCThe way netflix does subs is just bad. They dont take cultural things into account, so you end up with a really flat, at times too literal translation. So a lot of scenes end up extremely confusing or, even, give characters COMPLETELY different personalities. Fansubs usually end up being the closest to what the actual spirit of the script is. Crunchyroll isn't perfect by any means but they're a HELL of a lot better than netflix.

2022-02-12 16:25:29 +0000 UTCMost of that got fixed later on. When I was watching the episodes, I found that the boxes were indeed subtitled. There is a possibility that that not everything gets subbed right when the episodes release, but I was watching them quite a while after. Maybe it takes time? Idk, not saying it's good practice though. I just remember watching and seeing all the subs after the first couple of episodes.

Unlike Crunchyroll, Funimation and even pirate sites, Netflix won't translate every word on the screen or even at all if someone is talking and they have to sub that. Ultimately it's alright you get the jist but there are more jokes in those random boxes with Japanese in them that appear that make the show funnier.
