Road To Kingdom: Ace of Ace EP1

Great first episode! This is the first group competition show where I barely know anyone. Basically just ONEUS. I've missed doing melodramatic competition shows like this. I hope there are some big upcoming ones this year.

That's riiiiiight ATBO does Monochrome! I like that song.

This show is my personal very small, X1 reunion 🥹

Yeah not only did they have Cravity just have to sit and watch everyone's performance, the assumption is that they filmed their performance after everyone had already been cleared out. Cravity were the last to wrap up filming that day well into the early morning hours so that's why that's assumed. They had a flight to Japan the next morning and I think I remember them saying they had about 3 hours between the end of filming and when they had to leave for their flight so most of the members didn't even rest after that, they just went home and had to pack 😅 I do really recommend checking out their performance from this episode! It's on youtube (https://youtu.be/bgHgJRBTabc?si=qqNCHute_U86WBCo) and I felt it did a very good job at introducing them to the show. I do hope you continue the reactions to this show past episode 2, there's a lot of fun performances that I come back to even outside of the groups I went in rooting for (Cravity and Tempest)

Don't worry, I love novels! Especially when you're commenting as you watch, bringing up multiple points of the episode. Just don't expect an equally long response 😅 Am I insane for thinking The CrewOne should have been nowhere near 6th in that team performance ranking? I thought they were the best pure dancers as a team. Bring it On is exactly what I was thinking of, couldn't remember the name. It's wild how some groups fade so quickly. It feels like yesterday that ONEUS put out LUNA and everyone was looooving it. Even Same Scent, which I was meh on, everyone else really liked. edit: Holy shit, LUNA was 4 years ago

Yeah when they mentioned he was from Vietnam I was surprised

I will comment along through the show as I watch it. I, too, thought the 1st place prize was lame as hell. The whole point of Road to Kingdom is for a group to have a chance to be seen beyond that cap that they can’t break past. Instead of K-Con, it should have been MAMA. That would have been a better reward. The underdogs that I ended up rooting for were YOUNITE. I found them somewhat obnoxious on the first show, but they grew on me quickly. They ended up being my Pentagon. They lost a member shortly before the show started, and we all know how that can hurt a group. Fun fact: Eunsang, the red haired guy, was a member of the ill-fated group X1 (from Produce X 101, the show that cheating was discovered). X1 had Seungwoo from Victon, WOODZ, Yohan from WEi, Dongpyo from Mirae, and Minhee and Hyeongjun (your baby face) from Cravity. So… I guess he and the guys from Cravity knew each other? That’s kind of weird. Anyway there were some others, but those are the ones you’ve reacted to. 8TURN was a close second for me, so they’d be my ONF. Taemin on the show was a bit disappointing. He never really deviated from reading the cards. I’m reminded that ONEUS doesn’t have a leader. They chose not to go that route. Once again, when it comes to these shows, I’m reminded that it feels like a popularity contest rather than an actual competition, and that frustrates me. I, too, am over the Joker concept. I cringe whenever someone throws a “Why so serious?” out there for whatever reason. Tempest had a comeback last month, Unfreeze, it was pretty good. I try to keep up with them for Hanbin. I was really rooting for him in I-Land. TNX had a comeback last month, too. It was good, as well. Man, I love Eunsang. His personality really stuck out to me in this show. It wasn’t even really all that loud or flamboyant. I just vibed with him the most. No. The Ace is round by round and not the rest of the show. I was curious what you thought of the Drowning cover. I have mixed feelings. So far, no one has come close to WOODZ’s caliber, but I understand that that’s a difficult thing to do. I don’t know, man. Am I being too harsh? Did I mention that covering Drowning sort of became a trend? I know F.T. Island did one. I didn’t know how I felt about that one, either. Maybe because his voice doesn’t really fit grunge rock? I guess I’m just fiercely loyal to WOODZ or something. Oh, you nailed it - no raspiness. Maybe that’s it. I did not like YOUNITE’s performances this round. I think doing a rap for the initial round was not a solid choice. I really left the first episode with a bad impression of them between Eunsang’s over the top anger about being 7th and this performance by Dey. As you know, though, I’m a rock girl at heart. Man, I’m really starting to think I’m just a cold hearted bitch about all of this. YOUNITE had a comeback 2 weeks ago. It was okay. Again, I’m a rock girl. Hip hop is not my favorite. Why haven’t I noticed until recently that all chainmail in K-Pop is made out of pop tabs? What poor costume designer had to put all of those tabs together? The CrewOne really did feel like the bad guys in a way. I thought mashing two groups together was a cheat. Unfortunately, whenever this one guy from the group cried in later episodes, it didn’t affect me as it should have because of this. I also thought he was older than he was. Just 21 at the time. I had no idea. I think the ONEUS performance had a very Bring it On vibe to it, which is the album that I think you were thinking about - and that disappointed me. Also, Keonhee has the most unique ears in the K-Pop industry. It’s amazing and sad how sharply ONEUS dropped in popularity. They were my first K-Pop concert, back in 2022. Overall, this show didn’t have as much of an impact as the first Road to Kingdom. Like you said in the beginning, nobody talked about it and I really don’t think it did much to increase fandoms for these groups, which is a shame. I would be surprised if there’s a 3rd RtK. Sorry for the book. It was 2 hours of content.

When we try to watch it the video says that the creator has taken it away. I don't know what's happened, but we can't see it

The video itself? It works fine for me

The link isn't working or showing up for me.

TEMPEST is a boy group from Yuehua Entertainment and debuted in March 2022. They where 7 members but now they are 6, LEW, Hanbin, Hyeongseop, Hyuk, Eunchan and Taerae. Hanbin was a contestant on I-LAND (the show that created ENHYPEN) and LEW and Hyeongseop was both in Produce 101 S2 and debuted as a duo from 2017 until 2021. Also another fun fact, Hanbin is from Vietnam and is one out of six people who has debuted as Idols from that country. There are currently only two Vietnamese Idols active today and he is one of them
