Survey Results! Discussing the direction of Patreon / my channel

First of all, I am sooooo sorry this is so long. I had no idea I ranted for this long. I'll try to edit this description and add timestamps if possible.

I think it's because I have nobody to bounce these ideas off of -- all the things going on in my head about how I can do better. So I took this opportunity to rant.

Please let me know your thought on the results + my comments!

Lots of groups I follow so there's normally always something on the channel I can watch, and I feel like this channel offers something that I can't really get from other reactors but more Babymonster and New Jeans content (Variety content expecially) would be the biggest thing that would keep me interested long term

Thank you so much!! I have wanted to do more Fromis content but it feels like I missed the boat and the general audience might not care. I know in our Discord and longtime members of this community love them.

I mainly watch a lot of your girl group reactions and occasionally the guy groups too. My favorite is your Fromis_9’s reaction but ik not many people are into them so I understand why you don’t put them out as much. But really you’re doing an awesome job and I know everyone really appreciates what you’re doing. Make sure you take care of yourself man!

I think I'm pretty opposite of a lot of your viewers, which is fine, but probably makes my opinions very unhelpful for this type of survey. I'm far more likely to check out a reaction to variety content than a song or album and I have about ten groups that I check out semi-often, and if somebody isn't reacting to their content, I tend to fall off fairly quickly. I've had a few reactors that I've followed for a long time who recently fell down the Bini hole, and while I don't begrudge them at all, it gets great numbers, I'm just not interested in the content. Anything IDLE, Aespa or STAYC, I tend to watch right away and then I'll backfill my time with NMIXX, Le Sserafim and a few other groups that rarely get reacted to (but if they do, I'm always excited). You are one of the very few reactors who watches and enjoys STAYC variety, so I'll be sad to see them fall off. I hadn't seen if yoru question had been answered, but Say My Name is Hitomi's new group that debuted at the end of 2024. They just had a comeback a couple weeks ago.

On the request forms, I can see that Stefan has requested Cozy House up to Episode 5. So there will definitely be more of that on the way

I stopped subscribing to Johan Moon when he became almost exclusively a boy group reactor. Boy Groups do not interest me. I have about 5 or 6 groups who's content I will watch with a reactor. As I said it's ITZY (1) Young Posse (2) Nmixx +Twice (3) Lee Chaeyeon (4) and a few others randomly here or there. If there is no ITZY on a patreon, or very little or it's not regular (what happen to COZY HOUSE Feb 2nd Episode 2 then nothing?) It wouldn't matter to me if 2-4 are on that patreon, I watch content of those groups if you post it, but I am going to open my wallet for ITZY it stays open for ITZY. I am single minded in that. I think a lot of people enjoy a primary group and pay for that group and watch other content of interest as a bonus. If their main isn't serviced, they won't stay. We all have personal preferences, and you can't get to all of them. So I hope you will just be up front about who you are going to react to before monthly fees are collected. Seems like that is going to be TripleS, Lesserifim, and Nmixx. Unless I misunderstood the point of the survey.

Whatever you do, I hope you will be straight up honest and say if ITZY content will be on this channel you scrolled through those "comments" at about 26:00 mins in and there were a lot of ITZY mentions but you called out groups that were just mentioned once. So honestly I don't feel great about that. So just answer Yes or no will there be ITZY and Young Posse on this patreon? Regularly? Not just when they are promoting new albums.

Rant incoming. Lately, I've been using reactor playlists to deep-dive into behind-the-scenes and variety content, trying to fill the hole that the Dreamcatcher news has created with other groups. But so far, I've decided to join Patreons mostly because of album reactions and live stages and sometimes I end up staying subscribed simply to support the creator and less because of what they're currently reacting to. I've never watched k-dramas or survival shows, I don't actually know if those are for me. Having a cheap subscription tier with just the stuff I want (especially when the creator isn't consistent in doing higher-tier content anyway) makes it much more likely for me to stay subscribed. I had never considered hate-watching that AI show, but that actually sounds fun.. if the show isn't too cringe. I'm a sucker for Leemujin reactions, it's such a great combination of musical and variety content. Watching reactions for the artists or for the reactor is not a black or white thing, it's not even a percentage of this or that. It all started with a live performance of a metal band I listened to in my youth, which had gone viral in the reaction space. For years I had search bookmarks for a handful of groups/bands that I would check daily. At the same time, I had a huge list of reaction channels that was changing all the time, based on the artists they did, whether I still enjoyed their style and depending on how my interests changed. So I started off watching reactions for one specific artist, then started following specific reaction channels, then eventually discovered new artists through those channels, then new channels through those artists, and so on. Over the last ~2 years, the specific artist search bookmarks kind of dried out, barely anyone (worth watching) was reacting and I had already branched out to many more groups. I've settled on a set of favorite reaction channels on which I watch my groups and sometimes discover something new, often through catch-up videos featuring multiple groups. Having a fixed set of favorite channels is what led me to join Patreons in recent months - this would never have happened if it was still just about the artists for me. Same for writing comments anywhere, I didn't even have accounts for that for the longest time. While there are many more aspects to the appeal of reactions, I think many people watch reactions mainly for affirmation on what they already like and the art of being a good reactor, at its core, is to amplify positive feelings while staying genuine. It's important to be able to say that a song is not for you without upsetting people, which I feel you are very good at. I only skip intros that are the same for every video or that contain spoilers for the reaction. I do speed up talking sections a lot on some channels. Concerning youtube search ranking: Trashing your video description with SEO keywords seems to help, but don't overdo it: There's one particular reactor that pollutes all my search results, even though he hasn't reacted to the groups I search for in a long time. On the other hand, I don't see many other channels doing SEO. It's difficult. I know a lot of very small channels that upload a ton of videos very consistently, but they don't grow much despite of that. High upload volume and deep dives into older groups are not rewarded (at least not on YT). Being very extroverted, doing viral groups as quickly as possible and convincing your viewers that it's the best thing you've seen in your life gets rewarded, but still much less than it used to. Johann is a very interesting example. All of my favorite groups are girl groups, so it's been a while since I saw any of his videos, but he is very funny and entertaining. So I do have to admit that no matter how entertaining a reactor is, the artists are the deciding factor for getting hooked.
