I'm still hoping they don't go back to that exact style of XXL and ATE THAT. Maybe a blend of those and Cold? Still retro 90s hip-hop, but taken a little bit more seriously.

That was a track and MV designed to break into the Chinese market. Hence the Chinese director and lead actor in the MV. Chinese fans can carry a group that doesn't do as well in other markets. Chinese fanbars are known for bulk buying and loyalty. The restrictions on importing kpop albums and merch have been lifted in China, so DSP is going to try and make an intro for YP to Chinese fans. So far Cold is very well received in China, and time will tell if they grow their fanbase there to a sustainable level. Internationals need not worry but their lack of buying of albums isn't going to support a group like YP. They are vocal but not purchasing, album sales tell that tale well.

2025-03-17 14:16:01 +0000 UTCYoung Posse is unique, there is no other group doing these types of songs, and the fact that they do them all live when they are in front of the fans while dancing choreo is something several 4th gen groups are known for but it's kind of dropped off in 5th Gen but not for YP (and one or two other groups). 2025-03-17 14:12:16 +0000 UTCI love that group so much. I think that "Cold" was a calculated risk. The Agency knew it wouldn't be a huge success, but they tried anyway. And that's what matters, as you said in one of your previous reaction (about Le SRF I think), we don't want a group which is always doing the same thing over and over again without a challenge here and there. And I'm sure the prod team did its homework, next comeback will be fire.
