The Game Caterers x SM EP1

Tbh, as a long time fan of Kpop, i can safely say: You never know who they really are. I'm commenting on you praising them for staying humble, and i agree, they all seem humble and all, but then as you mentioned, crazy things got out, and you realise it was all fake. And even without talking about crazy illegal things, i heard through various videos feedback of behing the scene without names drop, and it's not the same ahaha, i remember an SM idol wanting to drink only water from a specific brand from switherland and being really drama queen about it pestering the staff, some staff took a bottle from the brand and fill it with classic water, the idol didn't noticed anything and said "yeah that's much better". I don't know who it was, but damn! Or staff saying that idols are wild and very far from prude ahaha. I'd say there's a lot of act in front of camera, more than we think. Even though i think some groups are genuinly good peoples

just saying: i got into kpop in 2017 - distinctly remember the 'big 3' girl groups of the time were definitely twice, blackpink and red velvet (we got likely, as if its your last, and red flavor all in one year!!!). as for 'rivalry' though, i'd agree that it never seemed like reveluvs were involved in online fanwars, at least from what i saw while being new to the setting.

Damn, you know a lot about your SM history! I thought it was interesting that even some of the street casted idols ended up being such talented vocalists

KpopPrince

Street casting basically means someone was pretty enough to catch the eye of company scouts. And it's crazy that some of the best and most well-known vocalists in SM were street cast -- Kangta, Changmin, Jonghyun, etc. Jonghyun was scouted while he was in a random school festival performing as the bassist of his middle school band. None of the scouts knew they'd have crazy talents/potential in singing. SM staff must've had the happiest shock hearing them sing in their actual auditions. Also, Seulgi mentioned getting in through the Saturday auditions, which is the most difficult way to get into SM. Every Saturday, SM holds open auditions, where long lines for it happen all the time. The sheer volume of people who audition means the staff overseeing the audition are quick to fail anyone they see any tiny mistake at. Only a few people get in and be trainees through that, and even fewer actually debut. Other SM idols from the Saturday auditions are SNSD's Yoona, SHINee's Taemin, NCT's Jungwoo and Haechan, and Red Velvet's Yeri.

OH!!!!! Hahahahahaha.....i thought you meant fed as in WELL fed. Omg...I'm dying

Edward Lee

I'm not sure if you were making a joke, which I totally expected haha. But I meant like "federal agent" or cop type of fed.

the implication of being street cast is just visuals, nothing else. But it means you REALLY stood out visually (or were really tall, especially back in the 1990s-00s). Here's the thing....you ONLY think about kpop bc thats what you do. When these kids are street cast, it's for the possibility of ANYTHING. These companies have acting/modeling arms And as far as being a trainee in secret......those same friends are also at night time academies for whatever. The average kid in korea doesn't get home til 11 or so bc they ALL go straight to academic tutors or music or whatever

Edward Lee

i actually laughed out loud....the most fed member of SJ is Shindong (and they came out by debut date, not age. It's just typical korean etiquette. For example, Changmin is 5 years younger than Leeteuk) One other thing....us koreans always count starting into the year (vs just subtracting the current year vs the anchor date). It's the cause of all the korean age confusion for the rest of the world. So groups who debuted in 2015 (Oh My Girl for example) will say they're in their 10th year, or more accurately they are INTO their 10th year
