Let's Eat Rice w/ GIDLE MIYEON & MINNIE

I've always seen clips of this show before and it lived up to my expectations! This guy is so great, the chemistry at the table was perfect -- like being at dinner with your old dad. I'd love to do more GIDLE content.

💜Please like this video if you watched the whole thing and let me know your thoughts💜

the Psick show is borderline unwatchable to me bc I find it just so cringy. In a weird way, I kinda hope it doesn't catch on internationally (for them) bc it could become kind of problematic (although I read some blurb about how those guys were sort of canceled). And yeah, a member has to be in on the joke for Ggondaehee to work which made the Sejeong episode absolutely awesome

You should watch more Idle variety! You'd be surprised how good Soyeon is on variety, especially now that she's established herself, she cuts loose a little more. She's great at matching energy with the host. Her interview with Chaeyeon is particularly good, because they're very close so they don't pull punches. Her Country Cooking show is also surprisingly great. It's very heartwarming and cute, but the episode with the rest of the members is pure chaos. This guy's show is great, but I think it's better when at least one of the guests is in on the bit. I think Aespa's episode was fun, because Winter wasn't afraid to give him shit. NMIXX's first episode was a little awkward because they were so newly debuted I think they were afraid to do much, but when Lily came back, she got the joke and leaned into it more. I feel the same about the Psick show, where they're playing characters and it can be more fun if one of the guests can play along with the joke. The name I-DLE is sort of clever as a pun in Korean. I plus DLE (meaning plural) which translates to plural I or a group of individuals, which is kind of their whole concept. Then Idle means kids. I don't know if that makes it better or worse for you, but I like it better than Anicolor. Both are better than the name Black Kiss, which apparently was an option at one point, which made Minnie cry and Yuqi threaten to quit. I've heard a lot of speculation that that Cube loan is a down payment on the debut of their new girl group, so we'll see. Lightsum is currently doing events in Moscow, so I have my concerns.

and a LITTLE background on the setup....so he's playing a boomer from Busan so he's (trying) to speak with a Busan accent which is much of the humor (he's going kinda ham on it....like when actors do a really bad southern accent here). Ggondaehee is a play on the word Ggondae which means boomer in korean and his real name is Kim Dae Hee If you're going to watch any other idol ones, probably the aespa one and the Jo Yuri one come to mind because both Winter and Yuri actually ARE from Busan and whenever people from Busan come a running bit is his Busan accent being "fake" (he then will say how he lived in daegu for a bit so the 2 accents are mixing) (also....lol, yes, it's 1000000000% scripted and even if he doesn't know know the songs, he's definitely watched the MV right before the filming. These episodes take a LONG time to film and they do a lot of takes and a LOT of footage is cut and edited. Magenta from QWER said on one of her streams that they were there for 3-4 hours and talked about a bunch of stuff that the final cut just didn't use. my guess, when they jumped to Queencard Im guessing they actually just cut out everything in between. Oh, and Miyeon was supposed to debut with Blackpink)

Yeah, it's unfortunate not all the episodes are subtitled......in all honesty, the idol ones are actually the least funny on his channel with the exception of when QWER went on as an entire group and when Kim Sejong (from IOI/Gugudan) went on-these 2 episodes are LEGENDARY and the QWER is subtitled. Those 2 episodes were unhinged. If they EVER subtitle the episodes when other comedians come on "playing" his wife or son as well as the dad-joke competition shows, those might be the funniest shows ever made on korean youtube It's a little tricky for idols to go on this show because they have so many restrictions about stuff they can talk about, are just super careful by nature and are still very green comedy-wise in comparison most of the other episodes have either well seasoned comedians/actors who have the experience or lesser known streamers or Youtubers who don't have the restrictions that idols do so oftentimes the idol episodes aren't as funny/entertaining and you can see Kim Daehee having to WORK to keep the show moving. Often, idols are dragged for not being funny on this show (Giselle was absolutely annihilated unfortunately). I am always surprised when companies send the non-korean members on this show because it's SUCH korean humor The Kim Sejeong one isn't subtitled but someone subtitled it here.....you can see why she is SUCH A GOOD ACTRESS now (she is an improv genius in addition to being an idol with a VOICE-just look up the duet she did with Yeonjung from WJSN when they were in IOI together-and an actress and excels at everything she touches. It's kind of wild) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntKn6to5k4M

Those are a lot of great guests! Definitely a show I should check out more and look forward to future episodes

Hell yeah this show's been great. I've watched the episodes that have eng sub (seems like mostly the popular idol episodes get subs) and they're all unhinged and fun. Chaeyeon's is hilarious, Jo Yuri has a good one, NMIXX Lily and Haewon went on once and then Lily went back with Bae. Giselle and Winter from Aespa, Somi, Solar, and Ailee have all been on too. I'm sure other folks other people can recommend, but his "old boomer" character is pretty good the whole way through. If you only get time to watch one, you gotta watch Chaeyeon's fully. It's wild.
