Monthly Report Jan 2023

I was planning on releasing Convenient Woman to the public on Jan 1st, but I got cold feet in the last minute. I don't think it has enough content to be worth downloading, plus I released enough barely finished things as is.

Before I continue whining about things, here is a few artworks I finished.

Animated Sprite

While I was working on Convenient Woman sprite sex animations, I realized I dislike the style of sprite I was using. So I tried making bigger sprite with color instead. Above is the result.

Character Designs

This is the person the walking sprite is for.

Dan

The POV character. I don't really like this design, so I might just not show MC's face in the game.

I thought up a loose story about these characters from begin to finish. The details still needs to be iron out, but it is a completed story.

So the current plan, (or in a way, the new year resolution) is to release a completed story to the public. I'll bundle it together with whatever Convenient Woman will have at the time.

I'll continue to post whatever partial builds/artworks onto patreon, that part won't change.

But, for the general public in 2023, I would like to have one completed game.

Now let me whine about AI Art

I don't think big artists have to worry about AI art just yet.

Of course, the rights issue about using real artist's artwork to train AI models would have to be fought out in court at some point.

I think we will see something like, business generating AI art and hire editors to edit out the errors. So instead of needing to hire a illustrator, you can just get somebody who is good at Photoshop to fix up the AI art.

Is that actually easier and cheaper than hiring an artist/illustrator right now? I don't know, but it will be as the AI models gets better.

We could see a entire job category gets collapsed into another one. Only the big and famous artists will remain, the rest becomes Photoshop/AI Art polisher.

We already sort of have a system like this in place. Manga artist very often employ assistants to do the line work and what not.

If the AI art gets good enough, you no longer need the manga artist. Anybody with a story line can generate their product with AI art and get assistants to fix it up. The better the AI, less assistants will be required.

It will be easier to get your ideas out, which is a good things, but bottom barrel tier artists like myself are sweating.

I don't do commissions, but to be honest. I think I will have trouble convincing people to hire me over AI art even right now.

This is why I want to practice writing bigger better stories and release completed project in 2023. Because, when the AI art apocalypse comes, I want to have other worthwhile skills in my pocket.

Anyways, here is hoping 2023 to be a good year for everybody!
