Yes, Onew is the leader of SHINee. I still feel a bit teary seeing Jonghyun ๐ฅฒ The show is comparing the 2 groups since they debut around the same time and become a great hit in Korea shortly after debut. At that time, TVXQ and SJ are indeed more popular (TVXQ is more popular in Japan like you mentioned.)

Tvxq had been out for 5 years whereas the others had been a group for a few months. Even Taecyeon said in a recent interview that when he debuted he remembered on one music show/stage the crowd was predominantly full of cassies.
