First came the event at the docks with Jakeel. Then the whispers, the temple hidden on the bay, and now; the idol. That cursed necklace of stone and hair that wouldn’t let him alone. Now, Christensen had begun having fits of paranoia-induced delirium. Episodes where his heart would race, his breath would catch and he’d begin mumbling to himself in response to the ever present voices in his mind. With pressure and now an official order to take some time off and away from the case, Christensen found himself in the woods north of Kingsmouth at an old cabin he’d frequented as a youth. The quiet of the place alongside some cold beer and long walks through the small town of Norwood nearby had done well for him. Perhaps some time off and away from the case really would be helpful. Perhaps hidden blades in the gloom of Norwood would cut his stay short.
