Rumors #1: "Jumpminds" (Ecca Dorain)
Added 2023-11-28 23:07:26 +0000 UTCA peek at a character from deeper into the Ontology series. Ecca Dorain is what is known as a Jumpmind - humans who use their minds and extensive cybernetics to plot "Field Jumps".
Most who attempt the training and augmentations are killed in the process.
Some are horribly disfigured by the process, or experience a fatal disorder called flash burn. Capable Jumpminds can make long range jumps consistently, with months of rest.
Those like Ecca seem to be oddities. Rumor says that the rogue Jumpmind was trained from birth for an unknown project - something that should not have occurred before the Starfall. Rumor says the Pilot/Jumpmind can jump while flying her craft. Rumor says she has jumped her vessel several times in one engagement, with an accuracy which can be measured in meters rather than kilometers.
Rumors, surely. If humanity had individuals that talented, they would not have lost the war.
