I'd forgotten how good this was. I haven't seen it in over 40 years. Anthony Hopkins is one of those actors, like Jack Nicholson, you wonder if they're acting crazy or really crazy. It's something about those eyes. When I first watched this, I was like you, just waiting for that puppet to move.

I think it did not do well in the theater because, the TV spot was so frightening that it made you think it was a horror movie about the dummy coming alive. I remember the TV spot scared the heck out of me, and was not scared of the movie itself. but I loved the movie on my 2nd watch which was years ago.
