Evolve B187 - A GTK theme manager going wireless?
Added 2025-08-27 23:30:02 +0000 UTCA few months ago, I had this wild idea of interconnecting multiple devices with context awareness. I first experimented with it in my finance manager app, Flance, through an early version of CrossLink.
Now, CrossLink (v0.1) has finally made its way into Evolve, enabling seamless theme synchronization (GTK3, GTK4, Shell) across different GNOME-powered devices.
Evolve-CrossLink Bridge
You can now install CrossLink directly from Evolve to get started. I’ve intentionally kept it as an optional component, this way, Evolve and CrossLink remain independent while still working seamlessly together. This approach also ensures that no matter which version of Evolve you’re running, you’ll always have access to the latest version of CrossLink.
If you just want to use Evolve (without CrossLink), you can continue doing so!
All new CrossLink setup guides you through the small installation process.
Discover different devices in your network.
Add or remove permissions.
After a device has been added, they will automatically reflect theme changes.
CrossLink v0.1 brings in many security enhancements and advanced features. Refer to the CrossLink v0.1 Release Post for more info.
