I tried to replace my laptop with the Z Fold7... (ad-free)

This was a really different video for me to make. From the title cards, the lack of traditional a-roll of me talking to the camera, to not leaning on the camera to tell the story, I felt really out of my element in the edit. But I knew that the story of this device was about its size and power, so I dove in headfirst to put that to the test, and I left my old storytelling ways behind.

For a first attempt at a format like this, I think it turned out ok. But I also learned that next time, I am giving myself more than a week to make it happen! Software is a daunting thing to learn, and, with more time, I think I could have created a better video about those struggles, even though it was more than enough time to see how powerful and capable the Z Fold7 is.

Do we have any foldable users here? Do we have any mobile-first video editors?

Phil, I love that you rock the Duo. Only person I know!

I cant wait for this! Please let it be true. DeX is sooooo underrated.

I'm on double foldable.. still rocking my surface duo 2 (currently not the one with the camera removed since I also broke the hinge on that), as well as now a razr ultra (with the clicks keyboard)! I haven't done much video editing tbh (just a few quick reels), but plenty of photos.

I have the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and I love it. I don't really need it, but I'm interested to see Google start offering a desktop mode for it (which I know will lag way behind Dex for a long time).

seriously though, I thought all of the people without the needs for specialized software have already replaced their desktops with laptops, and then replaced their laptops with tablets. Do they really feel the need to replace, for the third time around, their tablets with phones?..

I have the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and I had the Pixel Fold before that. I can't go back. Even though I use the front display 75% of the time, the unfolded screen is so useful for maps, pictures, websites built for desktops, etc.

This is the kind of conversation people should be having when you're spending $2000 on a phone. Smartphones are capable of laptop-replacement functionality, but to not even want to try and replace some of what you can do on a laptop with your phone is CRIMINAL, especially when your phone costs as much as a laptop...

I would love to get my hands on the tri-fold phone, just to see. There's no way I could justify the price though....
