Thanks to a recent U.S. court ruling, Apple must now allow apps to offer U.S. based users checkout options outside of Apple's in-app purchase system (which includes the 30% Apple fee)—something that was previously prohibited under Apple's App Store requirements.
Patreon's checkout option—which avoids Apple's 30% fee—is now the default checkout option for U.S. based fans making membership purchases in the iOS app.
Your U.S. based fans now see the price you set without Apple's fee added in, just like they would on web or Android.
When your U.S. based fans use Patreon's checkout, you'll have faster payouts, without Apple's 75-day hold.
**New sign-ups just need to use the latest version of the app.
I'm so glad that these greedy bastards have been put in their place!!!
Please be aware that I think this only applies to U.S. based customers currently.
