At the time he made the suggestion to send Yuan to the states, he thought for sure that Qian was either a straight arrow and that he'd be uncomfortable with Yuan in pursuit and that it would wreck their family, or that he wasn't sure what Qian was in terms of orientation. So, he thought separating them would accomplish two things: 1) help Qian figure out what he really wanted, and 2) give Yuan an opportunity to see what else there was out there so that when he came home, he'd know whether it was just that he looked up to Qian and was misinterpreting that familial love as romantic love, or if it was real.

The way Yuan was staring at Qian at the beginning of this episode was so cute and the way Qian couldn’t deal with the stare was funny 😆. The way Yuan was looking at Qian in the car scene was hot 🥵. I just love the whole ending scene, it’s was perfect.🥰
