I really loved this season so much. I appreciate that they tackled harder subjects but still give it a hopeful feeling. I think that's a good thing because what folks like about the series. I've already rewatched this season multiple times

Thanks for the reaction, I love heartstopper because of the truth is has and how it relates to a lot off, and Diane I completely understand, my father is Penecostal pastor so I was born and raise in church, I always felt different but couldn’t understand why, and of course I got to hear my mom saying things that people that r gay r possessed by demons every time any mention of homosexuality pop up. I consider my self to be part of the ACE spectrum. And Kent that rant u had about Darcy mom omg 🤣🤣🤣 love u guys 🤗

agree with the commentary--another thing that i think harms the way queer stories are told in asian bl is shipping culture and how that gets in the way of telling stories closer to reality. and yeah, as someone who's been reading heartstopper since 2017/18 things were truly rough back then. like i adore lbc for nostalgia, and how ae's character actually helped me with my own self-discovery, but it was an absolute mess lol. i think there a lot of queer folks who criticize heartstopper for being unrealistic because the characters have access to so many things, friends, labels, opportunities that just didn't exist even ten years ago. but a lot has changed in recent years (some good, some bad) and i think it's hard for some ppl to cope with that? idk just let the kids be!! also everything dee said--felt as a black gay myself with a religious mom.

Samantha

KENT OMFG that rant on Darcy's mother took me out.

What Alice said definitely has a lot of truth to it.. she also mentioned good Asian comics in her 4 line comment made in 2017. Can the so called BL community name 5 shows that didn’t fetishise gay sex that was made before 2017. Only in recent years we have started getting some BLs closer to reality lol. These idiots were beefing with a show that is basically made for LGBTQIA teens all over the world. First proper budget Japanese BL was What did you eat yesterday which had grown men who didn’t even kiss lol. These people on Twitter were annoying AF. I am so glad you guys called them out..

Lost Boy

Not me ranting and typing a whole essay 🤡

Now look at my stupid ass crying and feeling seen and called out by this show. Like where is the realism in all of this 🙄 I am supposed to be able to talk to my soulmate in my head whenever it rains, that’s realistic💀 pls don’t get me wrong there are some really good series out there but I don’t understand why anyone has to bash heartstopper (a teen show made for teens to feel seen) for being “unrealistic” when they’re eating up all of the bs that’s either not representing anyone or just plain toxic. Sometimes both but what do we know? It’s always straight people having these opinions regarding everything that just doesn’t have anything to with them and for what? They didn’t like this show because they weren’t able to fetishise this relationship and nothing more. These weren’t straight men that are only gay for each other and they weren’t able to fantasise about being with any of them and that’s that. If I had anything like this growing up I might’ve had the possibility to realise who I am earlier and not having to have fucking Grey’s anatomy as my first introduction to anything queer. This show is great for the kids and teens nowadays that are slowly learning who they are and are represented and helped in a way that I personally just didn’t have. I was under the impression that there’s something so wrong with me for feeling the way I felt and something like this would’ve helped me tremendously bc I at least would’ve had a starting point. Also I loved the post-commentary like always, you’ve put what I’ve been thinking in to words that I most likely wouldn’t have been able to find. Like I actually teared up again listening to Dee bc it’s pretty similar to my environment. I just don’t feel confident in telling anyone around me anymore. I’ve lost friends after coming out to them and I just am not ready to go trough it again. I have coworkers that are pretty openly homophobic and I’ve decided to just look past it bc I am not ready for these confrontations as I’ve already lost a job over something like this. Same with some of my moms friends, like they all pretend they’re so open but will go out of their way to not interact with anything queer and calling it “the other the other way around or just wrong” (I don’t know how to properly translate that into English). This show and people like you guys reacting to it are helping the community and help broaden society’s views in ways that I will never be able too bc I am scared. And for these straights to come here and try and ruin everything again as if they haven’t done enough already is just so weird to me. I live in a country that pretends to be accepting of everything but the day another street crossing got painted in rainbow colours, it already had some nazi stuff on it. There’s an organisation dedicated to helping queer youths and their office doesn’t even have opening hours and you’ll only get there with an appointment bc it is not completely safe. The pride in Vienna got bomb threats this year and I only read one article about it. We still live in a society where being queer is not accepted and for anyone to come for any show depicting queer stories bc they can’t get the satisfaction of sexualising queer relationships is just so so freaking disgusting.

Prom in the UK happens after exams so they have no classes to attend. Also it happens in July when it gets dark at 11pm at night, an hour before prom ends - so it's always going to be light outside.

I hear that, and this is the most nice and chill show ever? If you want to bash Western series do so to like 13 reasons why or The Idol that actively glamorizes violence against women or triggering topics in sake for the men behind the camera or to shock people they should be getting this negativity. I really can’t be asked with half the people online they tire me out..and have really lost the plot here..

Megs

That’s why I just stayed away from it all. Aint no one ruining what Heartstopper did for me 😂😂

Honestly, I was so surprised there was so much negative discussions about Heartstopper especially from the white folk that said they’d rather watch Asian BLs. That’s what really surprised me LOL. I guess in my head I was like this is great representation for y’all too tho, especially for your skin tone?? Like did y’all even watch it? LOL

Kent Clark

Thanks for this! Happy I was able to give the series a go and really ended up enjoying my time with it. Another great western series and I’m happy more young people have something to see geared to them, When I had to wait as an adult to watch stuff like The L Word to really see myself in a sense. I think just all around Heartstopper is a good thing, from exposing people to these experiences as well as attracting them to other avenues of queer media from all over. I remember seeing people starting series like bad buddy because of this show back then and that’s really cool imo. Idk I’m sad the conversation around this series has become pretty negative around a show that should be positive and celebrated along side fun BL and queer stories from around the world too not against them..

Megs

I cried and had so many feelings, too!! I been rewatching (even s1) and this series as a whole just hits different. It’s really something we never got to see growing up🤧

Kent Clark

Such a fantastic series for representation. It reminds me of what I missed out on in my youth and how fantastic it is that the youth of today have shows like this. For days after I was in such a funk, I've never cried as much as I did on that release day. I couldn't stop watching until late into the night. Really looking forward to the next season. Can't wait to finish another watch with you all ❤️
