19:32 for context to all who dont know, winter solstice is quite an important time for chinese families as a time to gather and eat dumplings together, for it marks the end of the harshest bit of winter. dumplings are round and represents reunion - if im not wrong the northerners like their dumpling fillings salty and the southerners like it sweet. when uncle/dad says (21:27), "Today is winter solstice, the day to eat dumplings", he also means that it's a proper day to gather/to reunite together. dumplings (a different type) are also eaten during lunar new year.
