Love In The Air: Episode 13 Full Reaction

It was really a lot that we had to watch scenes of abuse twice in one episode. I think I can partly see that perhaps the writers wanted us to go on a journey with Sky in facing what was his main fear about his relationship with Pai. But it was really a lot and I think the scenes should have been shorter or not at all. As someone who has experienced sexual assault and also someone who is trained as a therapist, I think the scenes were too long and basically threw us as the viewer into the trauma. I'm glad that they spoiled this in the teaser so at least we were prepared (I knew what I was going to see this episode so I was able to take care of myself but I still had nightmares that night :( ). One of the things I did like was that Pai basically said all of the right things: he checked on Sky first rather than frightening him by using violence in that room, he asked him what was happening, he covered him up and left him with his best friend, he demonstrated that what had happened was not ok and helped to get Sky get back into his feelings in a safe way - when he heard Sky's story he reassured him and offered him comfort but never dismissed his emotions or view of his trauma. I am not sure if I think it's romantising or not - I guess I can kind of see that. For me it helps that the trauma was addressed and Pai offered a supportive response. I think certainly the conversation in Pai's room didn't feel romantisied to me but felt starkly realistic for how a trauma survivor feels about themselves and their ability to be in relationships -I also like the Pai was telling him that he is the one who has to prove himself worthy to Sky and not the other way round. Anyway, that's just my view and I'm only one person. But thanks for opening the conversation up! I always enjoy your reactions <3

i needed Rain to go ape shit crazy on all of those guys with this scene: 'WHO THE **** ARE YOU GUYS TO DO THIS TO MY FRIEND WHO I LOVE SO MUCH!?!?!?!' ---with kicking punching and shouting while Payu holds each of them up in sequence with help of the guards in suits--- ---Rain ends it off with 2 bitch slaps each and a strong stomp to end the use of necessary organs for those trashes, as he should--- ---Rain hugs Payu and takes some time to get those negative energies and emotions off, before going to Sky, just sitting there with him, reminding Sky that he is loved and is deserving of love no matter what he thinks of himself as.---

I feel like they could have gotten the same effect in building the relationship between PaiSky without putting Sky through the trauma a second time....(especially because we as an audience already watched and understood the gravity of it from the flashbacks early in the episode) If Sky had gotten to open up on his own terms like he originally planned, then had the storyline where Sky bumps into Gun at the race, they could have kept the drama and plot moving forward by having a confrontation between Pai Sky and Gun there without regressing Sky's character by repeating his trauma and backtracking on the character and relationship building they did in the previous episode. The thing that annoys me is that with the show finished, we don't get to see any of Sky growing from here. We just have to assume it's all g because: Happy Ending~

I understand what they were doing and I think the ex had to come when he was in love with pai because then he could possibly break again but I still wish the last episode never had the ex in. Or if we saw the ex again it was dealt with quickly not taking up most of the last episode. But the ex really did make me hate him. Pai and Sky are so cute together I’m so sad it’s done. Cant wait for the special episode. Also pai crying when sky couldn’t and then pai crying when sky was telling him about his ex it got to me. Fort is such an amazing actor. I didn’t know what to expect with their acting but omg im the most stunned by fort for sure. Best acting in the show id say.

Twinkle twinkle little star made sense to me. He had a nightmare so they used a lullaby in the soundtrack when he was trying to comfort himself by calling Pai

Thank you for completing the reaction. Everything you felt was shared by many of us. THIS was physical, mental abuse and RAPE!. as a viewer we followed SKY's trauma for several episode so we already knew how we wanted the abuser dealt with. When I step into Pai's role I was reminded that Pai has known for a while that Sky experience something horrific, he wanted to know but he never pushed. When he walked in, it probably became clear what Sky had yet to tell him, and for that moment I think Pai was more concerned with Sky not slipping into shock and withdrawing from reality so he was reassuring Sky that what he knew about Pai was true "he liked and cherished him" and that he could let go and release. His care was where it should have been WITH SKY at that moment. When Pai realized that sky was coming around he then went after GUN and nearly beat him to death. Pai still does not push SKY to say what needs to be said. It was SKY that carried the message of the writer that THIS was RAPE and it happens out there but it does not determine a persons value, One can still love themselves and find love as well. I thought it was a great ending. I just needed more of Gun's rings to be pilled out of his ears and a couple cigarette burns to the forehead. but I like the thought of P'Chai getting his hand on GUN and kicking the shit out of him like he did STOP. lol . LOVE in the AIR OST the Kent Clark cover is classic!!! Thank you can't wait for the special episode #14

My first thought is their should have been a TW in the beginning of the episode. It was really hard to watch many parts. I had to skip them.

I don’t necessarily like the word survivor but I guess that’s what I am. It happened to me when I was 14 and it was my very first time so I didn’t really know how to handle the interest anyone had in me, I just thought they wanted to sleep with me and didn’t think I had the right to say no since that didn’t work before so I kinda got numb, the way Sky did here. My relationships haven’t really worked out since 11 years later I am still struggling with intimacy and social anxiety. I enjoyed the way they handled the abuse and the ending even though I could’ve done without the second time but I understand why they did it. I also like the fact that we don’t clearly know what happened to the ex but we should remember how the guy that kidnapped Rain was handled. I am pretty sure the ex has it worse than any jail time. Psychos like him would thrive in jail so I am better off thinking that Pai either handled it himself or his connections are taking care of that mf. This show as stupid as it was in some parts really comforted me. It showed that even when you’re fucked up you could still find someone who’s willing to put up with it. At least they acknowledged the rape and the abuse and that’s more than we ever got from other shows. I didn’t really feel it was romanticised, something did feel off for me in that scene but that’s my problem, my trauma.

As a Survivor myself I'm fucking fed up with stories concentrating so much on the abusers so I'm happy with LITA. He got dealt with thanks to pai's mob connections - sky is safe now, nothing else matters to me. I also don't get why people think it's romanticized? Like, I legit don't get it and would like some points or something as reference because I can't see that at all. I see it as a story that depicts exactly what a Survivor wants. A fantasy. The things usually only the non traumatized people get. It's why I love MAME, for the most part (TT is... Questionable in some parts...) because it's basically fantasy for abusive victims.

i’m not a victim either so i won’t speak much on it but what i do know is i think showing sky get attacked again should not have happened. they could have done it in any way other and i guess i shouldn’t expect much of mame in general but it is disappointing. i just think there were better ways to have prapai find out and to deal with the ex than retraumatizing sky in the process and showing the audience stuff we don’t need to see. they definitely do romanticize the fact he’s a victim which is something i’ve kind of realized they were going to do as soon as sky’s storyline started. i enjoyed the show a lot and i love sky and prapai together but there were definitely better ways to handle this storyline.

However I do wish the last few minutes had a better ending. All in all the series was great.

I really appreciate you for giving me more perspective!

Kent Clark

I'm a rape survivor, and I think them focusing more on the boys instead of the ex is better for me personally. I would rather see them and how Pai helps Sky. All too often too much focus is put on the abuser and not the abused. No need to focus on the trash ex boyfriend

Crusita Soto

I also think that the ex comming back was unnecessary and it should have only focused on the journey of trying to heal and date again after that kind of trauma. Also would have loved to see therapy being brought up especially when it’s a taboo in many countries to get professional help.

Magical Creature

I’m torn on it, I really can’t speak for the victims of these types of things because it’s really not my place to do so I’d rather have others who are more informed on that subject to comment. I really do appreciate that they decided to try to tackle this subject matter..because it’s not brought up in the medium that much though I’m not really sure they went about the best way for me. I kind of wish they didn’t resort to the Ex coming back to torment sky more for extra drama..it’s not needed or necessary imo. I was happy just seeing sky open up to prai and begin his healing journey..the whole him coming back to attack him really did nothing and just felt like shock value to me, that’s how I felt from it. I also wish mame would bring up therapy and getting help from someone other than a lover like a professional. There is nothing wrong with asking for help and seeing a therapist for things like this I wish she went into the healing process more rather than create this torture scenario but that’s all I have to really say. I’d rather have people who have has this experience have their voices heard. However I do appreciate what mame was trying to do with sky’s story alot of it I liked but some parts I didn’t. I really do love the show. I don’t know if I explained this well I just want to be as respectful as I can when it comes to things I havent personally experienced.
