180 Degree Longitude Passes Through Us: Episode 8

Yes, it is 1hour and 30minutes LOL! Definitely listen to our 30min discussion at the end. We really delved into the morals of the story, characters, the reality of BL, and what we need from Asian queer & lgbtqia+ stories. I'd LOVE to hear your thoughts in the comments as well, from both the show & what we said!

Full unedited and uncut reaction to 180 Degree Longitude Passes Through Us Episode 8!

This show was amazing! I agree that it is not a show for most BL watchers, it is a great coming of age show. anybody can identify with loving someone who is not ready to love you. I also understand the mom a lot. Honestly i did not realize Thailand did not have LGBT+ rights or that a lot of the BL actors were extremely homophobic until a year ago. I was shocked.

I think his mom deserves more credit!!! She lived with a husband who never loved her and a son who spent most of the time missing his dad. The fact she keeps bringing up only herself and her feelings in arguments is because she thinks she's the problem. I think the mom has severe abandonment issues that no one cares about. The bubbly/self absorbed personality is obviously a cover for her loneliness and misery. I adored her character!!

-every time they brought up the whale it reminded me of BTS “whalien 52” song it’s one of my favorites. I love this show the dramatics and the emotion was top tier

I enjoyed the additional discussion at the end. There were many points that I agreed with and I feel really needs to open things up that people discuss. I feel like stories like this and ones like ITSAY and IPYTM to be honest go beyond BL. They, in my opinion, create a better experience that I wish received way more love than they do. This series was hard to watch and it should be. It should be a series you can watch and experience and still get the message behind it. I cried for Wang. I could not bring myself to cry for Mol and In though. In is just.....I can't. I think, this may be mean, but some fans of BL's (even though I don't really think of this drama as one) don't want to see a queer story or have a deep discussion or even discuss the content they consume. They just want either unicorns or they want sex. They don't want any part of reality or hints of it. Different spectrum, but even some of the reactions to War of Y. War of Y has elements of most BL's fans would like, but most criticisms I see is they don't like the hints that these stories or situations could be real, even though fans know they can be. Back to this show though. In is living in a beautiful cage. He doesn't want to speak out against the system and doesn't want to take a chance. He will live in his beautiful cage and die emotionally but will never step out to stop his slow emotionally wasteland. Mol, why I didn't like her, she at least stood up for her son in her own way. She fought for him and I think that is a part of why Wang did end up choosing her. Mol fought and In didn't. Now Wang definitely showed he was suffocating in that car, but I think Wang realizes that one day he can be free unlike his father and In. This series was good and I'm glad I was able to experience it.

I AM SPEECHLESS! This act was freaking AMAZING! Everything about it, the slow burn was so well executed.. GOD! Their acting MYGAAAD! I can relate with every single topic, IM A MOM, I HAVE MOMMY TRAUMA, I'VE BEEN INMATURE, I'VE CALLED PEOPLE OUT IN A VERY DRAMATIC WAY.. "you naaame it"! And Kent not only Asian household but also Latino, family can be the best or the worst at a certain point of our life, and when we get older, we start to tie the loose ends and start to understand (or not) the why's! I love you guys, I wish I could just talk to you about life, you have some great points of views, your values since you where raised differently, very interesting to hear you defend your point.. love it!! ❤️ Sending hugs 🫂 your way!!

For me, Series like this ITSAY and Old Fashioned Cupcake just hold a special place in this unreachable spot of BL where it’s transcends that label for me, it truly feels like a cinematic but infinitely relatable story that is just leagues above. I feel these stories could’ve released in cinemas and went for Oscar’s. I love its view on being young and self discovery. it’s such a powerful experience both liberating and terrifying being a young queer person and coming to terms with it, it’s so hard to truly show what that’s like to people who haven’t experienced it before and many BL can show it but it’s hard to actually show straight people how it feels. This story shows this and I feel truly drives that message so hard and can truly pierce the heart I feel. While Old Fashioned Cupcake takes this and looks at it through a whole different perspective on getting older and what it’s like to experience this as you get older too. Self discovery never ends when you grow up. These types of messages are super powerful and need to be explored. Great discussion and while I really feel having so many different BL series is great, the diversity in the series I think is what makes them such a treat to watch I think there is a place for series like Love in The Air, showing a fun side, with some cute fluff and a more chill story I adore it it’s in my top, but there also HAS to be stories like this in LGBTQIA+ media. It’s so important to show this realism and representation. It’s essential. After GAP comes out I’m hoping Girls Love starts to become more popular too because I’d love more queer women stories to branch out so I can see my self a bit more as well ❤️

One of the best of 2022 easily! We don’t get many Taiwanese BL’s that come out but when they do they always top everyone similar to how I felt when We Best Love came out 2022 is an actual monster when it comes to these amazing series. GMMTV take notes
