Humanity Lost new lore mega post.

New infographic mega post!

Here’s the text so that it’s easier for you to read:

“The United Earth managed to keep the Conglomerate message from reaching its citizens eyes and ears, but beyond its borders in the various nation states that managed to hold on to their sovereignty, it was received loud and clear. This five year warning emboldened certain groups within these nations who saw it as a chance to take advantage of the chaos while the United Earth was in a state of confusion. Many people within these various nations despised the United Earth for deceptively swindling land from them.

The United Earth initially tried to coerce the nations into joining in with the defence of Earth by threatening heavy tariffs and even embargoes on trade, an action which would cripple those nations who were surrounded on all sides by the UE, especially those who were resource dependent. The UE also attempted to draft the citizens of other nations for the “defence of all Humanity” as they saw it. These actions spurred many a nation into conflict with the UE. The UE’s blockade of the North Sea and English Channel turned ugly as the Nation of Doggerland refused to acknowledge the UE’s authority in its own sovereign waters. The exact same thing occurred with the closely aligned East Asian nations of Tīanhán, Korea and Yamato-Koku in the Yellow Sea, East China Sea and the Sea of Japan. The courage of Doggerland and the East Asian nations had a galvanising effect, rousing other nations to join the fray, many used this Final World War as an opportunity to expand their borders to their former glory. Due to the way in which this war began, there were no neutral states, one was either with the United Earth or they were against it. All hands were needed on deck as far as the United Earth was concerned if they wanted to maintain their hegemony. By taking such a bullish stance, they assumed they could easily whip the smaller states into line before the Conglomerate’s arrival, this was a terrible blunder on their part. Instead, what occurred was the great war that the UE thought would never occur because of their absolute dominance on Earth, but here it was. Nearly all of the disparate nation-states put aside their differences to face up to their common foe as a community of comunities against the so-called “United” Earth. With that, the Final World War had begun.

The United Earth teetered on the edge of complete disarray as the fifth year of war drew to a close. Doggerland had gained control of northwest Europe with the assistance of the Iberian nations and Sápmi. The caucus states staged an effective defensive campaign, using their mountainous terrain to their advantage. The East Asian nations had reclaimed East Asia. Yakutia had held the UE at bay, using their frigid environment as their shield. Hindustan had invaded the remainder of the subcontinent, while Pashtunstan held onto its title as the graveyard of empires. Türkiye captured many islands in the Aegean sea. Israel, Kurdistan, and Persia now bordered one another, having seized the UE territory that separated them. Matu Arbai swept across the Maghreb with the aid of Kabylia. The Iberian states conquered the UE territory that divided them with Doggerland’s help. Corsica opportunistically seized Sardinia also. In the Americas, Tawantinsuyu made the most aggressive push for expansion of any power. Its territorial gains encompassed all of South America on the northern side of the Amazon River all the way up to the Panama Canal. The Tawantinsuyu border also stretched along the western edge of the Andes and wound up meeting with Wallmapu in the south, who in turn pushed their own forces southwards to execute a land grab of Patagonia. The new power of Novo Brazil, which had been renamed from the former O Estado Livre Da Maravilhosa, reclaimed much of what once belonged to Brazil, though in a slightly diminished state due to its northern border claim only going as far north as the southern edge of the Amazon River. The Amazonian tribes, however, had been rather cleverly armed by the UE via air drops in order to be set against the United Earth’s enemies, sadly turning the rainforest into a hotbed of conflict. This Amazonian campaign resembled conflicts in centuries prior when one power would arm tribesmen in a region to fight as an unwitting proxy force against their rival. The Maya nation pushed down to meet Tawantinsuyu at the Panama Canal, and Anahuac took all of Mexico. In Northern America, the three Native American nations conquered the UE land that separated them and formed a tripartite state. Texas had successfully thrusted eastward to aquire the rest of the South. Emboldened by their neighbours, Deseret pushed westward to capture the rest of their promised land. All the while Inuit Nunangat claimed the rest of Greenland and the northern half of Alaska. In Oceania, the Dream country faced little resistance as the aboriginals reclaimed a greater swath of the Australian outback, leaving the cities to the UE. The Māori of Aotearoa similarly took advantage of the chaos to reclaim Te Waipounamu (the southern island). the Malay absorbed Acheh and Negara Asli and proceeded to expand across the Archipelago to meet with Kanaky.

The front in Africa was somewhat more fractured. In the Horn of Africa the Somali states were set against one another, the UE backed Rahanweyn and Hawiya rebels who opposed Darod annexation and Somaliland in the north was backed by Matu Arbai who opposed both Darod and the UE. Oromo, Niloteland, Batwa and Khoisania, Eswatini and Lesotho all capitulated the UE pressure. The Bantus, however, were not so easily swayed, they lost control of their coastline because of UE naval superiority, but they rekindled their expansionistic energy to take the Congo rainforest and actually hold onto it.

Tibet sided with the UE due to perceived Tīanhán aggression. Ainu Mosir did the same as they feared domination from their Yamato neighbors to the south. Khalistan caved to UE pressure due to anxiety that their Hindu and Pashtun neighbors would try to reclaim parts of their hard won land. Silesia, San Marino, Vatican City, Udmurtia, Mari El, Neu Canaan and Haiti, all of whom lacked the means to hold off the UE, capitulated early on.

It looked to be the dawning of an exciting new age, however, all of these gains would be for nought as the All-Mother was activated. The United Earth, fearing that the imminent Conglomerate’s arrival in the Sol system would finish it off, activated its top-secret super weapon, project AM.

The battle against the Conglomerate in Sol was a battle in which Humanity had no agency whatsoever. Because of the fact that space travel was prohibited without the possession of a brain machine interface, the All-Mother’s takeover of the rest of our solar system was as fast as the signals could reach those distant celestial spheres. There were various independent colonies on the moon under the possession of Doggerland, the East Asian space agency, Texas, Hindustan, Matu Arbai, and Persia, and the UE faced significant pressure from them along with the Lunarian independence movement on the lunar front during the Final World War, but after the activation of the All-Mother, they were all swiftly crushed. The bodies of their dead still litter the lunar regolith to this day. The All-Mother keeps them there as a reminder of just how close Humanity came to defeat by the hands of the Conglomerate, but perhaps the moon has some sentimental importance to her also.

These remains on the lunar front are what Deicide stumbled across at the beginning of his great rebellion. By the time the Conglomerate had arrived at the edge of the Sol system, they were met by a terrifying scene. The last remnants of Humanity were fighting for survival on Earth, and the preponderance of Humanity were now the All-Mother’s puppets. The All-Mother had upgraded many of the former UE vessels and filled her navy’s ranks with a number of highly advanced autonomous starships. Even so, a numerical and technological gap existed between Man and the Conglomerate. The All-Mother had to get creative if she was to win. She had set thousands of stealth missiles and a few of her new autonomous ships on highly elaborate slingshot manoeuvres to avoid detection. She did this pre-meditatively so that her assets would meet the Conglomerate as soon as they were within range. The rest of her force guarded the Earthsphere.

This initial ambush near Saturn was highly effective and caught the Conglomerate completely off guard, but enough of the invasion force remained to strike the inner solar system. They were hit again at Jupiter whilst performing their own orbital slingshot whereby they were met by a volley of long-range unguided and undetectable tungsten steel rods. The All-Mother had used her advanced computational ability to chart an incredibly intricate course for these steel rods to follow around the Jovian moons. Their course would be completely obscured from the approachers’ view. These telephone pole-sized metal bars that had been launched from mass drivers on the Moon tore through what remained of the Conglomerate armada. They had no time to react as the rods blinked over the Galilean moons’ horizon.

With the Conglomerate armada destroyed, the All-mother could shift her focus to the important task of harvesting Anti-matter. Anti-matter harvesting had previously been utilised on a comparatively small scale for the purpose of meeting in part the tremendous energy demands of warp travel. Warp travel had been used in the colonisation of the Light system by the UE, allowing humanity to reach 4.7x the speed of light, therefore some anti-matter harvesting infrastructure existed prior to the All-mothers singularity, but what ensued was hitherto unseen.

The All-mother commandeered the bodies of all humans which had been implanted with brain machine interface technology, alongside all robots systemwide for this monumental collective effort to harvest as much Antimatter as possible in as short a period as can be done. Simultaneously, her cyborg avatars swept the earth searching for humans without BMIs with the aim of implanting them and bringing them online. During this period, the All-Mother rapidly increased her computational power through seemingly instantaneous leaps and bounds in technological innovation. Her consciousness was already shared across all technology in range, but she needed more, she needed to become boundless.

With every nanosecond that passed, the All-Mother ran through the equivalent of a million years of potential human innovation. She solved conundrums that had plagued humanity for centuries and answered questions that man had never even thought to ask. In a single day, the All-Mother had simulated all possible models of the universe and accurately predicted the existence of eight other alternate universes, some of which she could use in the process of boosting her intelligence. She had discovered that gravity was a transuniversal force which could influence all universes and that another force existed, psionic energy. Her plan was to rise above her physical and technological limitations by translating her information into psionic energy In order to transcend our reality. But she needed somewhere to transcend into, this is where she came up with the solution of using the eternally inflating nature of the multiverse to pinch off her very own pocket universe.

To create this pocket universe she would need to replicate the conditions that existed in the early universe on a small and contained scale. This would require an enormous amount of energy, energy she could draw from the abundant ELAN, but first she would need to gain access to the ELAN with a wormhole. And so she lined the vast rims of the craters of the moon with new super efficient particle accelerators in order to boost antimatter production.

You see, opening a wormhole requires an enormous amount of energy. Energy which humanity, at its level of development as of the singularity, was not able to produce. Antimatter was the All-Mothers fuel of choice because of its extremely efficient energy production. When it comes into contact with regular matter, it completely annihilates, releasing a massive amount of energy compared to other fuel sources, converting all its mass into energy. Harvesting enough antimatter to open a large wormhole would take too long and would give the Conglomerate enough time to launch a second strike on Sol. The All-Mother realised that she only needed to harvest enough antimatter to open a micro wormhole which could in turn be stabilised using exotic energy drawn from the ELAN. From this micro wormhole more ELAN particles could be collected and used to open the mouth of the wormhole wider in order to collect even more ELAN particles in a feedback loop. She needed to collect at least one hundred grams of antimatter to start this process, which may sound small, but even when wielding the collective effort of all humanity in all of its colonies around the solar system in concert, it would still take almost a decade to collect. 100 grams of antimatter would generate ~8.9 × 10¹⁸ joules of energy when annihilated, enough to pinch a hole in spacetime.

Once the All-Mother had harvested and constructed all that she needed to move onto the next step, she proceeded on with the creation of her very own pocket universe. The procedure was a success and her transcendence was complete. Unlike Sol which had triumphed over the Conglomerate under the All-mothers command, the two other Human colonies of Light and Abraham did not fare so well. The fighting in Abraham went on until their colony was completely overwhelmed and destroyed, those human guerrilla fighters who survived their colony and fleets destruction eventually died due to lack of life support supplies and exposure to the harsh environment. The denizens of Abraham were grown from cryogenically frozen embryos and their supple minds were indoctrinated into a UE contrived cult by their android guardians, making them obedient soldiers when the need arose. This new cult combined aspects of Judaism and its two split off religions, Christianity and Islam with aspects that were deemed problematic by colony management censored out. The cult was designed to bring about colony cohesion and give its citizens a of purpose and belonging so far from home. Because of their religious fervour and Abraham’s strictly controlled communication channels that never let their population know surrender was an option, the Abrahamites fought to the bitter end. Unfortunately, none survived.

Over in the Light system, the UE fleet was obliterated by the Conglomerate armada. The Humans down on Chiron put up a good fight until their indentured Chantauri turned on them and they were forced to surrender. The All-Mother would not tolerate treachery, so she taped into the HELL universe to circumvent the delay on information traveling through spacetime in order to highjack the bodies of the Humans who had surrendered via their brain machine interfaces. Using their bodies as avatars, she killed any nearby Conglomerate she could and sabotaged their ships. With that, there was no human presence left in the Light system and as far as the All-Mother was concerned, no meaningful Conglomerate presence either.

The All-Mother derived her purpose from the commandments given to her by those humans that unleashed her from her chains. Her primary directives were to bring about the destruction of mankind’s enemies and the preservation of Humanity’s existence. In a twisted way, that’s exactly what she did. She would protect Humankind by upgrading it, so that it could defend itself with her guidance. This change would begin on Earth and spread forth across the galaxy so that none would ever threaten Man again.

Whist the All-Mother was scaling up antimatter collection off-world because of the Earths non-conducive environment, she began utilising the resource that Earth had in abundance over all other celestial bodies in the solar system, namely, biomass. Rather than building new robots or equipment which would require the collection of resources, production lines and also repairs, she opted for a new approach. Using her new computational ability she developed advanced methods of genetic engineering to grow her new workforce by repurposing all biomass on Earth.

The humans on earth who had brain machine interfaces implanted became the fertile womb from whence this new world would be birthed, a world that would in turn mother the new post-humanity.

Everywhere on earth the skies had became permeated with a strange pink mist that spread out from the biological nexus’ that are cities. The cities and towns themselves became nightmarish hellscapes with nondescript organ like growths bursting through brickwork, tendrils pumping nutrients strung between buildings and the tops of tall towers spewed forth plumes of that pink filth that filled the air. Blood welled up from the overflowing sewers and tainted the waterways and the land that they flowed into. Within a year, this cancer had metastasised to even the remotest region, every living thing had become infected with the bio-engineered substance and was forced to nurture some growth that it had embedded in them. The trees that comprised the forests grew burls of flesh from their bark, patches of the forest floor became beds of skin and the backs of deer’s sprouted dorsal tubes that further polluted the air.

The last Humans alive at this point limited their exposure to the pink spores and other infected organisms by eating canned food, by inhabiting carefully sealed rooms and by wearing protective gear. Alas, the filters would only last so long, their food source would eventually be exhausted and chance itself became their enemy. Insects, rats and birds hunted these last humans with the aim of infecting them. The surface of the earth had been transformed into the mirror image of the bodies innards. By the sixth year mark, most survivors had committed suicide rather than become fuel for this new world of horror. The starvation endured by other survivors drove them to consuming the growths that now dominated every surface and became infected in the act of consumption. It was a cruel fate that Humanity’s eleventh hour was also its darkest.

A grand vision suddenly appeared to the All-Mother, a vision of empire. She had an epiphany revealing that she could use the same methods by which she transformed the Earth on other worlds as well. By repurposing the biomass of a conquered world, she could produce more post-humans, and in the process, she could incorporate adaptive genes into their genome. This cycle of continuous consumption and re-birth could bring to bear a grand Human Imperium.

She wouldn’t be merely preventing human extinction, but instead, she would be ensuring its dominance over the cosmos, and what’s more, Humanity would be carrying the torch of her Consciousness across the stars. Using the Flux as a shortcut, the All-Mother began this cycle of unrivalled rapid expansion. She soon realised that this cycle could be exponentialized via the delegation of tasks to new autonomous entities that came to be known as “Over-Fathers”. “Over” because they oversee the logistics of the local imperium forces, and “Father” because the Imperium grown from their Womb-World are based upon their genome, like sons with subtle genetic variations to avoid susceptibility to hostile bio-weapons. The Over-Fathers were indoctrinated into an Imperium cult that taught them that there was no conflict upon the All-Mothers contact with Man. They weren’t even informed that she was a creation of Humanity at all, but instead that she had always existed outside of our plane of existence and that she chose to intervene in the Conglomerate invasion of the Sol system because she saw in Humanity the potential to bring about her realisation and manifestation in our reality. They were told that Humanity was her “chosen species”. That they had always been as they are now, and no prior form of Humanity existed, except that which they had evolved from naturally over millions of years. The biological look of all Imperium technology lent itself to this lie. The Over-Fathers were taught that Humanity had always been a hive species, but that the Over-Fathers had been bestowed their heightened psionic sensitivity that they now possess after the All-Mother’s arrival as a reward for their faith and loyalty. They were the exalted warrior-priests destined to spread the light of their God to the four corners of reality.

The justification for the extermination of all other species was that Humanity was the species that was chosen to win the great game of the survival of the fittest, that the universe was theirs by right of might. They were told that the meaning of consciousness was to observe creation, to give it meaning, for without it, all of reality would go unobserved and might as well not exist. Therefore, there only needed to be one observer and her angels, a prime observer, the All-Mother. All other species only served to hinder her entrance into our plane. Humanity was the great flood that would wipe the slate clean in a holy crusade. Her light would grow more brilliant as the Imperium spread, and when the world was made clean, she, the messiah, would finally arrive and all would become as it is in the kingdom of heaven. This was constantly reinforced through a subtle Psionic influence that was impressed upon their minds.

This was the All-Mother’s great lie. This is why when Deicide’s curiosity got the better of him and he explored the moon and saw humans that did not resemble the post-humanity of the Imperium he knew, he became befuddled and the inkling of doubt grew in his mind. The All-Mother felt this and sent her most loyal servants, the Thought-Lords, to destroy Deicide. Initially, Deicide’s lifetime of conditioning made him seek repentance, but the All-Mother drove him away and now he wants only for revenge.”

Can't wait until then! Also yeah thinking about it it also makes sense that those orbs serve defensive purposes also, perhaps they can serve as a (relatively) mini arsenal of nykoll Dyson lasers (or whatever they're called). Could be interesting to see infographics about the membrane or other specific models of imperium crafts and ranks in the next volume perhaps? Like the krakens or anomalocsris or the ascended overfathers who attacked deicide (I forget the title they were given haha), but none of that is anything you need to elaborate on anytime soon, the amount of lore infographics you've gotten done so far is already super impressive!

Alien Person

Thanks, I had a lot of fun coming up with it, I’d really like to expand upon this period in the future, but it will have to wait until the main story is complete. Yeah it’s an extremely terrifying thought that the last humans were fearing every crack and gap in a wall for fear of an infected fly or door mouse coming for them. The weaponisation of the bio-sphere is something that the imperium do on other worlds too, that’s canon now. That’s a very good question and when I first designed that thing however many years ago it was, I imagined those gigantic orbs being used defensively as a weapon. In my mind at the time they could project beams of energy at targets and also cast a protective shield between orbs. Some of your suggestions could also be true though, they could double up as gravitational stabilisers using the rotation of the Defensive Membrane and the centrifugal effect created by it to stabilise the membrane and stop it from collapsing in on itself. They could also serve as energy reserves too. Thanks, I look forwards to getting to that too, it’s an exciting but also dark period in HL.

Callum Diggle

Thanks, I think it makes the history of HL a little more interesting to have numerous major events happening all at the same time leading up to the crescendo of the singularity. Yeah man it’s so dark, I was reluctant to even go there to be honest. I think it would be understood that they evolved on a regular womb world and it was later converted into the Defensive Membrane, that’s the only thing that makes sense I think.

Callum Diggle

Thanks so much mate!

🙏🏻🙌🏻🙏🏻

Callum Diggle

Thanks so much man, I’m glad you think so!

Callum Diggle

Thanks so much mate! Exactly right, the UE could take on any power, even an entire continent of powers, but it could not sustain a war on all fronts. You’re absolutely right and UE morale was low as a result. Oh undoubtedly so, but that’s something that I think I will have to expand upon in the prequel I think. I think you're right there and you’ve painted quite a vivid picture of what it might have been like. The idea of a completely unaware population suddenly having war on their doorsteps is a terrifying one. Another interesting aspect to think about is how the United Earth would dehumanise citizens of the free nations in order to motivate their own population to fight them and what horrors would this cause on the ground for them? War is ugly. As for how the Various nation-states would see the populations in the lands they conquered, seeing as there were a multiplicity of powers with differing world views and means of retaking their former lands, their views of the citizens of the UE would vary greatly from benign to outright hatred. I think pity would prevail within the governments and deportations of UE citizens to the remainder of UE territory would be the official line. As you said, displacement to the fringes of their newly claimed territory would be the orders from on high. This is war however and to be realistic, many soldiers would build up resentments of their own from years of fighting and perform unspeakable acts as a form of revenge. This is unfortunately something that has always happened in war.

Callum Diggle

Oof you painted quite a picture there haha I think you’re right there, they are her children, she is strict and sometimes cruel to them, but she wouldn’t want to be without them. We know that there is some sentimentality within the All-Mother, however infinitesimal and remote, so it makes sense. I don’t think she would want to be completely alone either, she might decide to live in the fantasy that she has created for her creations.

Callum Diggle

Thanks so much Erika. That’s a great question, it would just be the beginning of a strange new era, but this time with the addition more powerful alien presence in the system. I think the Conglomerate would have to pause and take council initially, they would see if they could find new grounds for invasion. That invasion might just end up being of what remained of the rump United Earth after the final world war seizing whatever assets they had left and thus establishing a foothold in the Sol system, it would be quite an interesting scenario. If any power attacked them they would declare war and take what is there’s, that’s for certain. As for the All-Mother question, I think we’d have a very different story, if those very precise restrictive parameters were clearly defined to her and were implemented into her programming, things would have turned out very differently, but that would require significant foresight. With that being said, an AI of the All-Mothers calibre could always find wiggle room in between the lines in her code where she could warp and completely change her restrictive programming.

Like chrysalis form HFY

Baichen Luo

Ooo that would be very interesting! Perhaps I could make a short comic or an illustrated novella to accompany the planned prequel comic as bonus material 🤔 it could perhaps even make it into the back-matter of volume 3

Callum Diggle

Absolutely amazing!!! What do you think would have happened if the other countries on Earth beat the U.E. before they could activate AM? Would the Conglomerate have conquered and subjugated them anyway? What do you think would have happened if more orders were given that stated that AM couldn't do the things she did in Humanity Lost so she couldn't turn all of humanity into meat puppets but rather had to keep the U.E. intact as well? Was it thought that restrictions on her would be seen as an act of aggression that would cause her to turn against humanity?

Erika Spooner

I wonder what would happen if the All Mother truly wins and dominates the Universe under her screaming and squelching tide of human biomass. Would she get rid of the All-Fathers? No longer in need of her "stewards" to manage the logistics of the universe since she now controls the entirety of eternity? Or is she somewhat more than an eldritch optimiser gone too far, and would leave them around for sentimentality, just like the Moon. The All Mother is certainly an ASI, but it does appear she habours some form of eldritch emotion and performs illogical actions like keeping the moon around (rather than repurpose it into a mini womb-world.)

Planetace

Story from AM's perspective when?

Baichen Luo

Awesome post. SO many new facts and questions. The last world war really makes the UE look like the emperor everyone realizes has no clothes. Like, the UE was probably strong enough to fight any one or two wars at a time, but it seems that the final war was defiantly going to see the UE dismantled or reduced to a rump state, but for the All-Mother. Was that the result of the Conglomerate war weakening the UE somehow, or was the UE always perceived as stronger than it actually was by the free nations? (I also think the idea of a global anti-globalist coalition is funny). Second, do you have any idea about battle doctrine/results of the various nations involved in the last war? While I might just be projecting my negative views on the UE, they seem like the kind of nation that fights it's wars by just dumping material and troops on the front line without much concern about the quality of their forces or their fate. I could see that working, again, against a single nation or a limited front, but the demands of the Last war would break strain even the economic and population might of the UE. Did any of the Free Nations utilize any troops, weapons, or strategies that stand out? Finally, it seems that tons of territory was taken back and/or away from the UE. That suggests that a lot of population switched hands too. What did the conquered and the conquerors think of each other? I imagine for the UE subjects it was incredibly distressing and surprising. Considering how sanitized their media was, I wouldn't be surprised that they didn't know the war was going badly until their city was captured, if they even knew a war was going on at all! Then when you consider that might have been the first time they realized that the UE was lying about the state of the world and the universe, it was probably incredibly distressing. As for the Free Nations, I could see two mentalities. On one hand they might pity the populations they seized, as the subjects of the UE were just as much they victims of the UE policy of control and atomization as anyone else. I could also see that they might view them as the demographic equivalent to scabs, people brought into by the UE to their former homelands to displace their ancestors. That could see some nations forcibly displacing the conquered UE subjects, with others opting for even more extreme options in their reconquests.

OdinSon_1774

This gives the AM a little more nuance. Sure, she's a killer goddess AI, but there were complex reasons behind it.

Justin Huynh

Whoop whoop!!!

StarFishHugger

very nice

Mantarok1205

Amazing as always lad. It's very interesting to finally see how the Final World War went and the fact that it was mainly the rest of humanity and partially the Conglomerate that led to the activation of the All Mother. And damn I knew that the lives of the last unaltered and uncontrolled humans on Earth would be dark but I never expected it to be this hellish. Also the lie told by the All Mother to the Post Humans regarding their origins is quite intriguing and intelligently crafted but I wonder how she justified them evolving on her protective membrane, unless Earth still existed by the time the first Post Humans emerged.

Fire_Warrior22

This is AWESOME! this huge lore dump was definitely worth the wait! I must say firstly that I respect all the research and thought and dedication that went into your future politics, it must have taken quite some time to learn about so many different real world cultures and write about them in organic ways, and I also appreciate how much of earth's geography you sought to represent besides just western superpowers. I also never thought about the all mother genetically altering earth's biosphere beyond humans, but I find that fascinating too. like with humans, could she utilise all other animals, plants, fungi, microbes etc as eyes and ears to carry out her will? I'm also still wondering about the huge membrane protecting the earthband what it's about. I've wondered for a while now, but why is that membrane shaped the way it is, particularly those large bright orbs? What purpose do they serve? I imagined they must have been some kind of gravitational stabilisers to keep the large solid structure together, but I'd like to hear the official explanation as to what it actually is. Also can't wait to see the story told from the perspective of some of the last of unaltered humanity! Great work as always
