That contrast between Jack and Hannibal fighting, cutting to them 12 weeks earlier eating dinner in the same room, is masterful.

2020-06-29 05:11:03 +0000 UTCThat opening blew us all away. I might be mistaken, but I think the reason they put that in the beginning was to try for a ratings boost since season 1 didn't do very well and so they attempted to hook new and returning viewers by teasing them.

In the former, he was one of the numbers early on, and in the latter he was the host who William killed right after his "you think you know death" speech.

Yes, this story takes place roughly before that story, but not before any specific version/adaption of it. They may very well take some liberties with the characters and the world.
