Every time Envy interacted with Ed he would call him pipsqueak or some other demeaning name. Only as he's dying does Envy call Edward by his real name.

He could've given into complete hatred and vengeance, but with some help from the others, he was able to look beyond the flames of vengeance. What I really love about Riza and Ed coming in to stop Mustang from going over the edge was the fact that it really came back to what he said during his conversation with Hughes at the end of the civil war: "The power of one man doesn't amount to much. But, however little strength I'm capable of, I'll do everything humanly possible to protect the people I love, and in turn they will protect the ones they love. It seems like the least we tiny humans can do for each other." Everything just seems to always come back full circle with this show, and I just love it! I also love the fact that out of everyone, it was Riza that was able to make Mustang completely stop. Ed and Scar helped beforehand, but as soon as Riza stated what she'll do after if she had to kill Mustang, he just completely stopped at the realization that he was hurting her again. It honestly said so much about their relationship and how much they mean to each other, and it's definitely one of the main reasons why I enjoy their dynamic so much. As for Envy, despite all the atrocities he committed and the suffering resulting from it, I couldn't help but feel immense pity for him when Ed said what he said. It's just sad because of how basically pathetic his life was overall and how it ended.
