I absolutely loved the first season, but couldn't even make it thru the first episode of season 2. Different writers and it was painfully obvious they were just stretching it out cuz the first season had been so successful. But the first season is self-contained and still very much worth watching.

As for your question, the show has 3 seasons, each of them 8 episodes long, and the killer is revealed long before the ending. And yes, FOX remade it exactly the same but in America. They even kept David Tennant (Kilgrave), only they had him doing a terrible American accent.
