I remember being so confused as to why Hange reacted like that to the name "Ymir" when Armin and the others brought it up while trying to point out who Krista was. This was before I watched this OVA lol (or even before I got into the manga), so when I finally got to this, I was so surprised at "Ymir" being name-dropped like that. I was surprised that this titan was acting so conflicted in the first place, but the whole "Ymir" thing blew my mind xD

As others have commented, the titan was once one of Ymir's worshippers, who were indoctrinated to believe she was a goddess and heir to the king. Many patrons wanted you to watch this OVA before s2 because it's basically meant to lay the foundation for the Ymir titan reveal. (In s2ep3, Eren mentions Ymir, which catches Hanji's attention (she was like "um did you just say 'Ymir'??") because she recognized the name from Ilse's notebook.) I personally think this episode is best viewed before ep.10. It's more clear that way that the titan is the woman in Ymir's flashback. Well I'm just glad you got to it lol. It's hard to watch but we got great stuff from Hanji, and once again I demand a whole prequel series just to see more content from the Vets (veteran Survey Corps members).

She is the one that shakes her head to Ymir when the police burst in to their little meeting. And a lot of the "violence" in Attack on Titan is more implied or controlled in the way it's shown, rather than explicit, yet just as effectively disturbing.

2018-04-15 03:46:22 +0000 UTCYou gotta remember ymir was picked up from the streets as a kid and given the name "Ymir" and pretended to be a goddess. With season 2 ending we learn that people are titans and that titan appears to be one of the people from that little cult that got turned into a titan that's why she says "Ymir's people" and "Ymir-sama" which is the same as "lord/master Ymir" maybe it retained some of its past memories and behaviors like the little titan acting childish/babylike. Maybe that titan thought Ilse was Ymir they kinda look alike. At least that's what I understood from that OVA.
