2018-04-14 22:33:14 +0000 UTCI also find it interesting how, even though the Garveys didn't lose anyone, they're like the dogs who went crazy because they actually witnessed people disappearing. The Garveys were all in physical contact with someone who vanished at the moment of the departure. I don't think any of us can imagine how truly earth-shattering and destructive to a person's psyche that would be to experience.

2018-04-14 07:21:41 +0000 UTCPart of what makes Kevin so interesting as a protagonist is that he didn't actually lose anyone in the event. None of Kevin's loved ones were taken, but because of the event he ended up losing pretty much all of them anyway. His wife left to join a cult, his son left to join another cult, his daughter is now distant and angry, and his father went crazy. None of his family disappeared but he still lost them due to the effects of the event. This makes his relationship with Nora even more interesting because Nora lost EVERYONE in the event. But the best part is that even though on the surface they seem to be opposites in this respect, they both are essentially going through the same thing. They are both trying to deal with the destruction of their world and the existential depression that comes from that. It is because of this they can relate to each other..... God I fucking love this show.
