If you do do HunterxHunter, moving your 10 episode cut off over to 20 episodes would make a huge difference! Like others have said, it starts off slow but is worth it! (Also 20 20 minutes episodes is like 10 of those 40 minutes ones so.... not that unfair a change!)

The anime definetely has an ending and wraps up pretty nicely. The show starts out lighter but gets extremely dark in places. It's certainly darker than MHA which he enjoys.

Hunter x Hunter is a great show, Jimmy! It may seem for younger audiences and be slower paced at first, but it gets darker if you’re willing to be patient. I think we have similar tastes, and I’m sure you would love Hunter, since you seem to enjoy FMA and My Hero Academia a lot. Just gotta be patient, I guess.

Please keep in mind that Hunter x Hunter is 150 episodes of an incomplete story that will likely never be finished in animated form. It's also pretty heavily geared towards a younger audience, in my opinion, and not exactly what I'd think is your kind of show. I'm not saying that you shouldn't watch it, but I do hope that you don't hesitate to drop it if you end up not being a fan.
