Lost REACTION - 6x9 - Part 2

Nobody ever said that it was. I was only pointing out that Jimmy is making a killing specifically on this show and this show alone. And I doubt that any other series will hold as much weight going forward. Do people actually pay to watch GoT reactions? It's all on YouTube. I remember when so many peeps would beg and plead for more LOST—including me—on YT! That's why Macram set this up in the first place. To satiate. LOST became his moneymaker.

The point of my post is that Lost isn't exclusive in making reaction video makers money.

I got into that show a few weeks ago, and only have two more episodes to go before I'm finished. It's easily my all time favorite show now, really the story is nothing ive ever seen before and ive read tons of fantasy books. It's so beautiful!

LOST should be Jimmy's favorite show now and forever...since it's lining his pockets quite nicely at the moment! I highly doubt that any other series could make droves of people join a site just to watch someone (who's funny and entertaining) react to it. Disney owns this grand franchise, so I can't understand why they haven't brought it back in some way yet. Almost eight years have passed since the polarizing series finale! Give us something. The overarching mythology's so steep.

The best part of this episode is that I clearly remember thinking that the Man in Black was telling the truth about Jacob being the devil. His actions, his words, his look...all pretty sinister and evil to be honest.

JIMMY YOU DON'T KNOW HOW EXCITED I'VE BEEN FOR YOU TO REACT TO THIS EPISODE! It's such a good one and truly remarkable to the show. It's so powerful and after rewatching this show too many times to count, I've come to love this episode more and more and it's easily one of my favorites. I knew that if Richard Albert never made your list, this episode he would without a doubt. Glad to see he's at number 4 on your list. Definitely deserved it from this episode. It's fun to watch your predictions to try and figure all this out but don't worry things will make more sense moving forward. I won't spoil anything. I'll just let you enjoy the confusing ride we all once went through.

I could watch a whole movie of just Richard's story. I always felt I didn't get enough Richard. (Spanish-speaker here, so extra love for that!) I'm with you on your thoughts on Jacob so far, his godly nature and frustrating passivity. As for the MIB and his "otherworldly evil" nature...ahhh I'm just dying to see your reaction to "Across The Sea", which is coming up very soon. MiB is not on my list (your current list closely reflects my own; add Juliet somewhere at the top and swap out Sawyer with Sun/Jin and we're there) because it doesn't feel right to group him with the other characters. So I suppose he's on his own list as no.1?

Agree for the most part but I assume if Jacob hadn't distracted Sayid, he would have been killed too...

The Man in Black is also like some other people's interpretation of God, generally fundamentalists of any religion - angry, judgmental (remember how angry he got when Eko refused to "confess" and killed him) and believing that everyone is in a natural state of evil and corruption which they will automatically revert to. Believes in predetermination, not free will...so you could also see the conflict as God vs. God

I agree with Jimmy's thoughts on Jacob. It's funny because they definitely set up the battle between Jacob and MIB as a quasi Jesus vs Satan, or God vs Satan type of thing... but they are both human. They are not all-powerful, although perhaps more powerful than average humans. Jacob is not sin-free; he beats the shit out of Richard, he distracted Sayid while Nadia was crossing the street in LA and she ends up hit by the car. When he grants "miracles," such as Locke after falling from window, or Richard's agelessness, or even Juliette's sisters' cancer remission, it's always to get people to play his game with MIB. I truly love this episode though. LOST has so much power in its characters and I love how they never held back or worried about supernatural stuff not reconciling with the real world. They simply tell interesting stories. :D

Jacob is much like most people's idea of god. He's good and powerful and all about free will. I think the reason you don't like him is the same reason you aren't religious. If god is all good and all powerful why does evil exist? God's passivity must let evil exist in which case he isn't good. But Jacob like god believes people are only good if they freely chose good. But that lets the devil have free reign. Richard correctly points this out and Jacob reconsiders. He uses a prophet as his intermediary to guide people. But that version of god rubs people the wrong way so many conclude there is no god. It's alot like the version of god in the book of job wagering with the devil and messing with one dude to prove a point. I love this episode because it gives so many answers but raises so many interesting questions. Also i assume the MiB scans people's memories to learn how best to manipulate them. That's why Yemmi appears after Eko first meets the smoke monster. And why ultimately smokey killed eko. The manipulation failed and Eko was no use to him.

lol jimmy shouldn't read any comments ever. Any possible hint is a spoiler because at the end of the day he doesn't know shit about what's really going on until the end.

Jacob would be a demi-god. He can't absolve people of their sins, 'cause I guess only people can absolve their own self. And dead is dead, or something. Jacob seems to be a metaphor or allegory for this world's God and the man in black a metaphor for Satan, obviously.

I always belived for MIB to be a walking around physical person, he needed a body. BUT, when he scans your memories with the flashing light, he can then use those memories to sort of make you hallucinate people from your past without physically taking on their form. Thats how we saw ghost walt. thats how Eko was seeing the altar boy and the drug people he killed in the church. Remeber he saw them in the jungle when he was looking for Yemi. MIB was projecting those hallucinations to manipulate them.

I don't think that the man in black was his wife on the island, because the smoke monster was on top of the ship when she was talking with Richard. And as far as we know he can't be at two places at the same time and he has to be either in human or in smoke monster form.

That was probably the first serious effort to get Jacob killed that MiB ever made. That is why Jacob was so amused. Personally, after watching this episode, i started to think that Jacob, just as MiB, is a liar, and love to play games. He probably could bring his wife back, but maybe it would get into Richard's path as his represetative. And yeah... When MiB "scan" people, he can get acess to his memories, and stuff, and then he appeared as his wife, Eko's brother, Jack's father... The thing with Locke is different, probably because he was a candidate. A person "touched" by Jacob. The presence of bodies doesn't seem to be required, ands just a part of the mind games he plays to confuse, as he did with Jack and his father, and with Eko and his brother's body. And about that ship on 05-17, was probably another. Many people arrived there, as Jacob said.
