The intention was at first to adapt the book in one season. Season 2 wasn't in the cards at the time.

Everything is planned as something, even if that plan is very vague or open ended. Whether or not a show has been completely planned out doesn't changed that.

Totally agree. Lost really suffered from being way too stretched out. There were a lot of problems with Lost, but the length definitely didn't help.

Well at the very least it wasn't one of those shows that expected to go for a long time but was cut short.

IIRC from Lindelof interviews, when he was asked by some of the main actors during casting what he thought the longest ideal run of the show might be, he said no more than 4 seasons. Speculating now, but I think he had some long term ideas he was playing with from the start but the writers' room as a whole just plotted out one season at a time.

This show makes me wish that LOST was written on a different network. Not knocking on lost but the writing can definitely feel a little network tv like and I think that Lost really would have benefitted from shorter seasons and a network like hbo

The last few episodes of this season are really great and season 2 is fucking amazing. Thanks for doing these Jimmy, this show doesn't get enough attention.

The advertisement you saw (with Kevin having wings) was for season 3, which is the last season. Only 21 episodes left until the grand finale! :D

You said: "Stick is awesome on any show." Did you know they originally wanted to cast him as Locke on LOST? ;)
