I, too, choke up every time I watch that moment when he realizes Mikasa and Eren never saw him the way he believed they did, the way he saw himself (weak, burdensome, etc.). My heart. As for your question about Eren's transformation abilities (can he turn into any Titan form he wants), I believe what you saw in the end of the previous episode was an incomplete transformation. Acting on pure survival instinct/defense, he created the bare minimum (head/neck, chest, arm) he needed to stop that projectile from blasting them. (Also: if the Ben Linus tribute is the "I wish I were special" fanvid, I'm ready!! A masterpiece.)
