It was the actual main Candidates that traveled back to the 70's due to their connection with the Island. Candidates 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42. Whatever number Kate and Juliet and Miles, and Charlotte and Daniel were, whatever thread number in the tapestry of Jacob's plan, excluded Sun's number from going back in time. Who knows though.

Something I was thinking while watching the scene with Jacob: If he took Kate off the list because she became a mother, why was Sun and/or Jin still on the list?

or maybe they were Jacob's rules, and after he died it didn't matter anymore. Remember The Man in black said to Jacob in 6x15 "someday you can have your own games"

I found it always very strange how Ben just shot Widmore, while they implied in season 4 that they could not kill each other (like Jacob and MIB). But maybe it's a sign that "the rules" are not as binding as everyone thought. Or maybe they just work if you truly believe in them. So the island might be a place where your beliefe comes to life.

Sawyer was able to find Kate, Juliet and more importantly the revenge he wanted against Cooper. Then he became more than a con man when he took charge of things when in the Dharma Initiative. Kate found Aaaron and Jack and a reason not to "run" anymore. Hurley found the reason of his bad luck, and that he wasn't crazy, and LIbby. Jack found faith, and Locke found purpose and became what he always wanted to be. Rose and Bernard got her cancer cured, Sayid found love and friendship, Jin and Sun were able to conceive. Charlie beat addiction thanks to Locke and founcd Claire and Aaron. Desmond became a great man worthy of admiration of Widmore. Miles came to terms with his father. Eko came to terms with his own sins and with his brother's death. So on and so on. Maybe it would have been worse for them all if they never came to the Island, even if they did die.

I think you're right -- I've heard the ABC announcement cut off at the end of Jimmy's videos. Hulu also offers 617 & 618, which are the edited versions, in addition to the uncut original version.

I thought Netflix fixed the issue with the finale? For those commenters who have referred to the uncut finale on Hulu, I didn't even know that Netflix aired an edited version of the original broadcast.
